PRIME | Rewarding safer workplaces in NL

PRIME is WorkplaceNL’s incentive program for employers who maintain safe workplaces and effectively manage return-to-work processes. By meeting specific safety and claims management standards, organizations can receive refunds.
Why should I participate?
✔ Financial rewards: Earn a five per cent refund on your average assessment by demonstrating strong occupational health and safety (OHS) practices. Plus, earn an additional experience refund by having effective early and safe return-to-work programs.
✔ Improved workplace safety: Implementing PRIME requirements contributes to a safer work environment, reducing the likelihood of workplace incidents and injuries.
✔ Enhanced reputation: Demonstrating a commitment to safety can improve your organization’s reputation among employees, clients and the community.
What will I get back?
Under PRIME, employers can receive two types of financial incentives:
- PRIME Practice Incentive: Employers can receive a five per cent practice refund on their average assessment by having good OHS and return-to-work programs in place.
- PRIME Experience Incentive: Employers who manage their claims costs through early and safe return-to-work programs can receive an experience refund, while employers with high claim costs may receive an experience charge. You must first qualify for a practice refund to be considered for an experience refund. Employers will always be subject to experience charges if applicable.
Participating in PRIME provides financial benefits and also helps foster a culture of safety within your organization. By meeting requirements, you contribute to a healthier and more resilient work environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to your employees’ well-being.
