Move Well Work Well for employers

MSIs are preventable, yet they occur in every industry and account for 70% of all lost-time claims and costs in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Employers are responsible for recognizing and reducing risk factors in the workplace, and we’re here to help with easy-to-access events, education and resources.

Annual event

Each year, WorkplaceNL hosts Move Well Work Well Week to engage and educate about MSIs and find practical solutions for prevention in workplaces.

Move Well Work Well Week reminds us that when we move often and use good body positions, we reduce our risk of developing an MSI and remain productive, comfortable and healthy.

The event is every September to bring a spotlight on preventing MSIs, and we encourage workplaces to participate in Move Well Work Well activities any time of year. Our ready-to-use toolkit is available year-round.

Check on your workers

With some MSIs, signs and symptoms develop gradually and seem insignificant at first. Don’t ignore those warning signs. Take action before it becomes a serious injury.

Some common warning signs include:

• Aches and pain
• Tenderness
• Heaviness
• Tightness
• Numbness

• Tingling
• Burning
• Swelling
• Stiffness or loss of joint movement
• Weakness or tired feeling in affected area

Encourage your workers to report early warning signs and symptoms to their supervisor so together you can identify and manage the risks as soon as possible.
