Training Provider and Application Process
WorkplaceNL has a legislative responsibility to administer certification training programs for various high-risk hazards as outlined in the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. All training providers and trainers must be approved by WorkplaceNL to deliver the certification training programs.
Training providers must have a principal training location in Newfoundland and Labrador, and trainers must reside in Newfoundland and Labrador. All trainers must meet the minimum criteria outlined in the certification training standard and be associated with a WorkplaceNL-approved training provider and an approved curriculum before they will be eligible for a trainer assessment.
A trainer assessment is a 30-minute presentation, where a trainer presents assigned topics to a panel of WorkplaceNL representatives who score the assessment using a Trainer Assessment Tool. To become a certified trainer, trainers must achieve an 80% overall score and meet the minimum requirement for each element. Trainers are provided with a copy of the Trainer Assessment Tool prior to the assessment.
To apply to become a training provider and/or trainer, please visit the WorkplaceNL Training Provider and Trainer Application Portal.
For guidance on using the online application process, refer to the WorkplaceNL Training Provider and Trainer Application Portal Guide.
