WorkplaceNL approved research funding for the following five research projects; findings from the research will be posted when available:
- Analysis of the occupation exposure to radiation among health care professionals involved in cardiac and vascular interventional procedures
- Authors: Dr. Gadag Veerabhadra and Dr. Edward Kendall, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Description: Research funding will provide insight for Newfoundland and Labrador employers in the health care industry.

- Safety and Health: Remote vs. On-site Challenges during a Pandemic
- Author: Dr. Kim Cullen, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Description: Research funding will identify the unintended consequences of workplace-led pandemic-related protection strategies on workers’ physical and psychological health and their ability to work safely and effectively during the pandemic.

- Reducing NL Agricultural Industry Fatalities through a Low-Cost ROPS Program
- Author: Dr. Niels Koehncke, University of Saskatchewan
- Description: Research funding will support a practical prevention-based solution to one of the leading causes of serious injury and fatalities in agricultural workplaces through an innovative and improved approach to getting Roll-over Protective Structures (ROPS) on older agricultural tractors.
- Approved funding: $55,000.00

- Phenomenological study of post-graduate trainees’ experiences with mental health well-being during COVID-19 pandemic
- Author: Dr. Vernon Curran, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Description: Research funding was used to explore and evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on post-graduate trainee mental health including the nature of supports and interventions that may have been effective or absent in helping these trainees with their psychological well-being during the pandemic.

- Understanding occupational culture and mental health of employees in NL correctional institutions
- Author: Dr. Rosemary Ricciardelli, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador
Description: Research funding supported an analysis of a cross-sectional survey of correctional staff in Newfoundland and Labrador to strengthen and expand the evidence-base needed to inform current and future policies, practices, and programs related to mental wellness in the Newfoundland and Labrador correctional officer population. - Approved funding: $78,000.00
