2024 Research Projects

WorkplaceNL approved research funding for the following research project; findings from the research will be posted when available:

  • Health Care Culture, Safety Attitudes, and Workplace Experiences of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Internationally Educated Nurses (CALD-IENs): A Convergent Mixed Methods Study
    • Autor: Dr. Esther Monari, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador
    • Description: Researchers at Memorial University’s Faculty of Nursing are conducting a 24-month study to determine the safety attitudes and workplace experiences of CALD-IENs in the province and explore the experiences of CALD-IENs regarding transition and adaption into provincial health care settings. Quantitative surveys will be conducted with registered and licensed practical nurses in hospitals and long-term care sites throughout the Avalon Peninsula who meet project criteria; qualitative interviews with a subset of the survey population will provide further insights. Findings will be used to develop workplace support, transition and mentorship programs to address CALD-IENs’ challenges and stressors in their workplace.
    • Approved funding: $40,748.74
    • Proposal project duration (months): 24
    • Project documents: TBA
