WorkplaceNL approved research funding for the following two research projects; findings from the research will be posted when available:
- New graduate nurses’ experiences with and perceptions of their mental health and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic: An interpretive descriptive study
- Author: Dr. Robin Burry, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Description: Research funding will support new insights to help explore and evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on new graduate nurses’ mental health including the nature of supports and interventions that may have been effective or absent in helping these trainees with their psychological well-being during the pandemic.

- Harnessing Artificial Intelligence to Increase Workplace Safety
- Author: Tamara Vatcher, Canadian Home Builders Association of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Description: Research funding will support identifying root causes of incidents and accidents in the province’s residential construction sector. Using the results of this research, an algorithm will be developed to provide insights into the behaviours that lead to incidents and accidents and thus identify skill gaps.
