Advisory: New guidelines for virtual training for safety certification training providers during COVID-19

May 19, 2020

St. John’s, NL – WorkplaceNL has developed guidelines for WorkplaceNL-approved trainers and training providers who are interested in delivering virtual or blended (virtual plus in-class instruction) safety certification training during COVID-19. It is important that employers and workers continue to have access to safety training that continues to meet the standards set out by WorkplaceNL.

To deliver virtual training, WorkplaceNL-approved training providers must clearly outline that the class continues to meet the certification training standard and learning outcomes, and allows for student participation. The temporary guidelines, which may be revised or terminated at any time, are available on workplacenl.ca or at the link below.

Not all safety certification training courses are feasible for a virtual or blended learning format, especially courses where practical application of the learning outcomes is required.
