Introduction to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (St. John’s)
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes any equipment or device which protects the workers body from injury, illness or death. PPE is intended to be used where engineering or administrative control measures are not sufficient to adequately remove or control a hazard. Selection of the appropriate PPE for a job is critical and must be done in accordance with recognized standards. The use of PPE as a hazard control requires that the users are trained in how inspect, clean, use, maintain and store their PPE.
This workshop will focus on how to properly select the right PPE for the job, which is a responsibility of the employer, and how inspect, clean, use, maintain and store PPE, which is typically a responsibility of both supervisors and workers.
