Developing Safe Work Practices and Procedures – Corner Brook

Developing Safe Work Practices and Procedures – Corner Brook

All employers have a legislative responsibility to provide a safe and healthy workplace for their employees. This can be achieved by implementing an effective Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program with a focus on preventing injuries and illnesses before they happen.

Safe work procedures are a part of the hazard identification, evaluation and control process of an OHS Program. Employers conduct risk assessments to identify hazards associated with jobs, prioritize those for job hazard analyses, and develop associated safe work practices and procedures; written descriptions of how to complete a job safely, correctly and efficiently.

This workshop will differentiate between safe work practices and procedures; discuss tools used to determine what written practices and procedures are required; review the process for developing safe work practices and procedures; and, provide hands-on experience developing a basic practice and procedure.
