At WorkplaceNL, we work with employers, stakeholders, and our community partners to provide occupational health and safety education and help prevent workplace injuries and illnesses in Newfoundland and Labrador. We also provide compensation and support to injured workers and their employers during their recovery, rehabilitation, and safe return to work.

We are currently looking for a Manager, Claims Services.  You will be responsible for the effective and efficient management and delivery of programs, services and benefits for all lost time claims in an assigned unit within Claims Services and for ensuring that decisions and client services are co-ordinated and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner and in compliance with WorkplaceNL’s policy and standards.

You will work closely with all levels of the organization and will play an integral role in the establishment and continuing involvement of various committees, such as Labour Management, Wellness, Disability Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Response and Fire Committees.  The Manager, Claims Services for Corner Brook and Grand Falls-Windsor will ensure that each committee meets regularly and in accordance with the committee’s Terms of Reference. The Manager, Claims Services for Corner Brook and Grand Falls-Windsor will be the lead manager for emergency response and on-site issues.

  • University degree complemented by a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant disability management experience and responsibility in a worker’s compensation, insurance and benefits setting.
  • Past experience and demonstrated ability in effectively managing people and multiple projects is an asset.
  • This position requires strong analytical, interpretive and leadership abilities combined with strong communication skills.
  • A strong knowledge of the Workers Compensation legislation, policies and procedures as well as a firm grasp of the concepts and principles of Workers Compensation and how they apply in varying situations would be an asset.
